Twenty-eight tablet computers were stolen during an apparent break-in at a Riverside school, officials say.
The burglary was discovered early Monday, Nov. 3, at Bryant Elementary School, 4324 Third Street.
Someone apparently broke into a second-grade classroom where the Samsung devices were stored in a electrical charging cart, said Riverside Unified School District spokeswoman Jacquie Paul. The cart also was taken.
The estimated value of the missing equipment is $25,000.
The theft hit the school particularly hard, Paul said, because Bryant Elementary specializes in arts and innovation, so computers and other devices play a particularly prominent role in everything from reading lessons to map lessons.
'It's not like we're just losing stuff,' Paul said. 'Somebody stole their learning tools.'
