Government kindergartens and schools were given the tablets as part of a wider initiative by Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. The Arabic-language educational apps were designed by Horouf, part of the Kalimat Group. Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, founder and chief executive of the Kalimat Group, said the initiative would help schools. 'Horouf's publications contribute to improving the capabilities of the education system in the UAE to cope with the requirements of future growth and prepare a new generation to utilise modern technology in developing scientific skills and linguistic abilities,' Sheikha Bodour said. 'We are thrilled by the conclusion of the first phase of the distribution process. We delivered publications to children at this critical age to help instil a love of the Arabic language in their hearts from an early age, and make them able to keep pace with the changing needs of modern life.' It is not clear how many tablets were distributed. The initiative aims to equip every child and teacher in Sharjah government schools with smart technology. Horouf also distributed printed material to 5,150 students and 240 teachers. Aisha Saif, secretary general of the Sharjah Educational Council, said the initiative 'aims to achieve greater excellence in the educational process in the emirate by leveraging the latest technologies'.Source: www.thenational.ae
