Could Tablets Overtake Laptop Sales by Year End?

By the end of 2013, nearly 80 million tablets will be shipped, leaving laptops tailing with only 70 - 75 million one analyst predicts...

Something I have been saying for a long time now was that laptops will soon be surpassed by powerful, light and smart looking tablet computers. Well now one technical analyst has openly predicted that by the end of the 4th quarter of this year tablets will do exactly that.

Sameer Singh of BitChemy Ventures has outlined two scenarios and in both of them we see the laptop playing second fiddle to that of new tablet computers with potentially as soon as the 3rd quarter this year sales outweighing those of laptops.

If current figures are anything to go by, and they are, then this would seen very plausible indeed. In fairness this has been seen to be coming for a long while. We are obsessed with technology, and just looking at the mobile phone market shows us what can happen with advances in the fields. Touch screen started it off, and how many of us really use our PCs to their full power potential anyway? And to those that do, well im am sure you will be one of the ones to continue with you PC buying trends, however it would seem that the average user just wants to be able to do web browsing, read their emails and maybe watch a few email now and again. Something the tablet does exceptionally.
