Technology has come a long way from where
it was fifty, twenty, even ten years ago. It had become so intertwined with
people’s daily lives that some of them rely on technology almost constantly,
using their mobile phones, tablets, laptops, and other gadgets for their work,
school, friendships, relationships, and—parenting?
Yes, now, there are even tablet computers
aimed specifically for kids, meant to take the job originally expected from a
parent so the said adult could do other things, such as work more, rest longer,
or even play a bit more often. The question that remains, though, is should you
get a tablet computer to teach your child the things you could do yourself?
A
Helping Hand
There is no contest in saying that tablet
computers are helpful tools. Fast and powerful, these handy devices can do a
myriad of things that a person couldn’t normally have done without a desktop or
laptop computer, such as view and edit documents and spreadsheets, play and
share audio and video presentations, or even draw and paint sketches and
designs. Tablet computers can do all these, as well as play your favorite songs
and movies, or else entertain you with the hundreds of free and paid fun
applications and games.
In this aspect, it’s quite understandable
that tablet computers would soon roam into the busy working parent’s domain. It
has helped with students and employees in the past, so why not with working
moms or single dads, too? Nowadays, you can easily find apps and games that are
geared towards children, such as videos of nursery rhymes for babies, or
education games for older children.
Aside from games and applications, there
are gadgets that are genuinely designed for children as well. Tablet computers
for kids are made to fit smaller hands, made with more lightweight materials,
and with large icons and letters on default. Some of these tablet computers
come preloaded with games and applications, capable of playing a few more
through a cartridge slot or through online downloads.
Yes
or No?
But the ultimate question still remains:
should you get a tablet computer for your kid? The answer is never just a yes
or a no, because both sides have benefits.
While it’s true that many people question
the effects of giving such advanced devices to small children, the fact remains
that these devices really do help children to learn. And while these people
would also argue that the same kind of learning could be initiated by the
parent, it should be noted that times have changed in that the traditional
family roles have changed. No longer are women expected to stay at home and
raise the kids, while only the men brings home the bread and bacon. These days,
it’s not uncommon to find both parents working to raise a family, or even
single parents who work multiple jobs to raise their child. Having a tablet
computer that could entertain as well as educate their child is a priceless
resource.
On the other hand, it could also be argued
that the best teacher to a child will always be his or her parent, and in this
regard, even the most highly advanced tablet computer can’t compete. Nobody can
understand their child better than the parents, not to mention that these
bonding moments are too precious to hand over to some lifeless device.
Should you get a tablet computer for your
kid? In the end, the decision is in your hands but with tablets popularity ever growing its becoming more and more likely that kids with tablets will be the norm.

Overwiew of Razer Edge Pro 10.1-Inch 256GB Tablet Review: Razer Edge Pro 10.1 inch 256GB version
Razer pretty much out of nowhere, as far as I was concerned anyway, have produce the Razer Edge Pro gaming tablet. Its powerful and looks a million dollars and in a nut shell is probably the most advanced piece of mobile gaming technology available to buy today.
Labelled by Razer as THE WORLDS FIRST tablet specifically designed for PC games incredibly even now in 2013. Boasting a 10.1" screen which on reflection is actually pretty big for a mobile gaming device. Most of us will be used to the tiny screen sizes and resolutions of the 3DS or PSP style gaming units.
It also has a solid state hard drive, which in essence uses the same technology as a USB stick, where there are no moving parts inside the memory storage, translating in to impeccable performance speeds. Currently nothing else on the market offers anywhere near similar gaming specs to this.
The other nice thing about the Razer Edge Pro, is that not only is it ready to play any game you throw at it, but because it has Windows 8, it works seamlessly with all software and applications too. It is the best all-rounder for day to day work, school or college assignments, reading, research and of course, playing the ultimate latest Windows games.
Jam packed full of cool features, the Razer Edge Pro also boasts the following:
Switch in to tablet mode for just a second and we have a fully functional Windows 8 tablet device.
If that's not enough, get the docking station, turning you tablet in to a PC device.
Then you have, of course, mobile gaming mode%u2026 stand out from the crown, and then some with all its gaming glory%u2026
Also available is a mobile gamepad controller, which not only looks awesome, but is actually very functional, adding a new depth of intensity to already amazing games with a feedback vibration just like your PS3 controller%u2026

By the end of 2013, nearly 80 million tablets will be shipped, leaving laptops tailing with only 70 - 75 million one analyst predicts...
Something I have been saying for a long time now was that laptops will soon be surpassed by powerful, light and smart looking tablet computers. Well now one technical analyst has openly predicted that by the end of the 4th quarter of this year tablets will do exactly that.
Sameer Singh of BitChemy Ventures has outlined two scenarios and in both of them we see the laptop playing second fiddle to that of new tablet computers with potentially as soon as the 3rd quarter this year sales outweighing those of laptops.
If current figures are anything to go by, and they are, then this would seen very plausible indeed. In fairness this has been seen to be coming for a long while. We are obsessed with technology, and just looking at the mobile phone market shows us what can happen with advances in the fields. Touch screen started it off, and how many of us really use our PCs to their full power potential anyway? And to those that do, well im am sure you will be one of the ones to continue with you PC buying trends, however it would seem that the average user just wants to be able to do web browsing, read their emails and maybe watch a few email now and again. Something the tablet does exceptionally.
The Asus Transformer has a high-resolution screen on par with that of the newest iPad. Everything runs quick and smooth, the camera was much better than most tablets also featuring a rear facing camera. Its GPS seemed to work well on our testing. It has a thin, light and crisp feel to it and in gaming tests the screen and performance was good.
Price: $399.00
Overall: Very impressed with the Asus Transformer, the overall look and feel, combined with its fast performance makes it a worth consideration.
The Kobo Arc is a very impressive piece of gaming equipment. It boasts 16million colour HD display which makes a work of art with game graphics. We found the batter life to be very good even at high usage and getting up to 10hours on a normal day. Functional eReader and full of useful applications. Only bad was its design looked a little dated, but the performance certainly was not.
Price: $355.00
Overall: A worthy contender especially with its price, but just a 7inch screen.
The Xperia Tablet S looks wonderful. Everything you would expect from Sony, sleek looks and modern feel. The display of the screen is to match, with deep contrasting and vivid colors. Very powerful and gaming was very enjoyable. Responsive and fast with very little lag even from the highest demanding of games.
Price: $485.00
Overall: A bit pricey but very stylish. A tablet for the gaming pros.
The Razer Edge Pro is like no other. The worlds first tablet designed specifically to play Windows 8 games, this tablet does not dissapoint. The highest specficiation of any tablet we have come accross, and a wealth of features make this the ultimate in gaming technology and a must have to tablet and gming lovers.
Price: $1450.00
Overall: Expensive, if you cant afford it. If you can you should already own it...
